Protection of the environment is an essential dimension of any sustainable mining project. Our Pre-Feasibility Study follows a “sustainability in design” approach that avoids or minimizes the environmental impacts of the Project. This includes the Project using a sustainable water supply, minimizing its footprint and reducing its energy usage. The Pre-Feasibility Study identified a number of ways to meet these targets:

Dry-stack Tailings – Reduces water consumption by 50% and footprint of Project confined to one valley

HPGR Technology - Reduces energy consumption by 25% vs a SAG circuit that was previously considered in the PEA

Use of Desalinated Water - Ensures a sustainable supply of water

We have conducted intensive monitoring of the local fauna to ensure that any potential future impact on the local biodiversity is minimal.

The Company has projected the Project will have low CO2 emissions. Scope 1 emissions are 178,389 t CO2e/year or 1.02 t CO2/t Cu produced. There is the potential to have Scope 2 emissions at 0 as long as the power market continues to have renewable availability for the full energy supply of the Project. The Company will continue to look for opportunities to further reduce Scope 1 emissions.

The ESG Committee provides continuous oversight of key sustainability issues.
